well that's sorta better your still loading the plate   off center.  Let me draw up what I'm thinking.

If your going to use the tabs brace them like this:

Otherwise why not do it this way?

I didn't draw it quite right but the tube crossmember would be welded to a flat tab and bolted to the fishplate.

Good work isn't cheap and cheap work isn't good.

If it moves, salute it; if it doesn't move, pick it up; and if you can't pick it up, paint it.

Thanks for the drawings man! I appreciate it. I actually think I'm going without a cross member now. Jason put a new idea in my head I think will be a lot easier with little to no handling effect. I'm just going to weld two tabs to the frame (maybe a fish plate) and deal with a little angle on the upper. The cross member idea was to get the upper perfect straight, but I'm not to concerned with it any more. But now that I know you can draw, ideas will have to be shared.  Smiley

In other news... This is what you call getting very lucky. It still may not work yet, but after cutting 1.5" off my output shaft (2" still showing), it's looking very promising. 1410 on both sides of the bearing and 1350 at the axle. As you can see, I plan on spacing up the bearing.

yeah tabs would work and be simpler.  You can run some misalignment on the links with no issues.

yeah I can draw some stuff.

This was pretty exciting for me yesterday, and about the only thing worth mentioning. More parts are on their way.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I need to get the D60 under the front so I can measure for links. Once those are ordered and shock hoops are built, it will be on its own weight. Then it's on to steering.

Anybody free tonight? I ran into some pretty dumb stuff last night, and I could use another opinion, or 12.  Smiley Text or call me cause I'll be away from the computer this afternoon. 512-673-9802

Be careful of O'Reillys' house brandm "Master-Pro" ball joints. I discovered the hard way this weekend they pretty much suck blue whale testicles.

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

The factory ball joint measured 1.699" on a dial caliper. The Master-Pro measured 1.810". This was the BOTH uppers. This caused the upper to seat way to soon (well before the lower). This caused the lower nut to just spin the lower stud in the socket, never seating it in the taper. I confirmed this by installing a factory upper on the passenger side (was using cheapie AutoZone lowers). I finally got the MasterPros back off and returned. Pulled 2 more off the shelf and they both measured 1.796" from the lower surface to the start of the taper. A pair of MOOGs measured 1.701" and worked perfect.
