Land Use News and Updates:

 

Well the travel plans are now out for the Black Hills area.  A couple things to note:

- Rock Crawling Trails did not get their own trail designation, they are grouped in with the trails open to all designation.  

 

- There will be a sticker system for trail riding.  All vehicle will need a sticker to run trails.  These are available at the Forest Service Station for the time being.  Hopefully in the future they will be available online.

 

- Maps are now out, they are in Black/White only and there are two maps, North and South Hills.  You can download the maps from the Forest Service website.  You can pick up a hard copy at the Scenic Ranger Station.  It will take full effect December 1st 2010.

 

- Many trails are under seasonal winter closures, check the maps.

 

- Maps will be reprinted with corrections or modifications every year.

 

- We are working to get a map of GPS coordinates out that will list our trails along with a new rating system that follows the more well known national 1-10 rating system.
